The catalog enables searching, viewing, and comparing information about
the selected projects. A user group in Chicago guided and evaluated the
website for ease of use and accessibility.
You may search the catalog for and compare information about both projects
and design objectives.
Searching for project information
You may use several different means to search for a project: by developer,
architect, region, state, location type, residential type, construction
type, construction practices, and design objectives. For example, if you
are searching for a specific architect's work, you may click the category
"architect." A list of the architects featured in the catalog will appear.
You may then click an individual architect's name to view a list of the
firm's projects that are included in the catalog. To view a project, click
the project name. Similarly, if you are searching for projects in a particular
state, when you click "state" and then choose a specific state, a list
of the catalog's projects in that state will appear.
If you want to view a list of all seventy-five projects, click "all."

Searching for information about design
objectives
The projects in the catalog illustrate a wide range of design objectives
that contribute to quality affordable housing:
Contain
construction and lifecycle costs
Support
household and neighborhood fit
Be
adaptable to household changes
Be
universally accessible
Meet
high aesthetic standards
Promote
energy and resource efficiency
Ensure
healthy indoor environments
Support
physical safety and security
If you would like more information about any of the design objectives,
click here or the "Design Objectives"
button at the top of the page. Then to search for projects that have prioritized
one of the design objectives, click on the icon or name representing the
objective, and a list of the relevant projects will appear.
